The college, in consultation with the College Council and the Chancellor’s Office, retains an executive search firm (RPA Inc.) to guide the work of the Presidential Search Committee.
August 2021
The search firm begins to conduct virtual stakeholder meetings with the College Council, President Donald P. Christian, the President’s Cabinet, the Alumni Council, the Foundation Board, the Academic Deans, and the Town Gown Committee.
Late August/Early September 2021
Faculty governance elections/nominations are held for the faculty and professional search committee representatives.
September 2021
The chair of the search committee finalizes search committee membership outlined in SUNY Presidential Search Guidelines.
The search firm continues virtual stakeholder meetings and listening sessions with students, faculty and staff, including faculty governance leaders and union leaders.
Circulate presidential profile survey to campus community and various stakeholder groups
Presidential Search Committee members receive appointments and charge from SUNY Chancellor Dr. James Malatras.
The Search Committee and search firm develop a position prospectus and advertisement.
The search firm and college begin advertising and networking for the position.
October/November 2021
The search firm actively networks and recruits prospective candidates.
The Search Committee begins review of candidates.
December 2021
The Search Committee selects 8-12 semifinalist candidates for virtual Search Committee interviews.
January 2022
The Search Committee conducts virtual Search Committee interviews with 8-12 semi-finalists.
February 2022
The Search Committee selects five candidates for on-site campus visits and interviews with a variety of campus constituencies.
The Search Committee oversees on-site candidate schedules and visits/interviews.
Campus constituency groups are surveyed after each candidate visit.
March 2022
The Search Committee reviews feedback from campus interviews and surveys and makes recommendation to the College Council of all acceptable candidates.
The College Council meets to review and approve recommendation of three finalists to the Chancellor.
The Chancellor and members of his senior leadership team interview the three finalists.
Additional reference work and background checks to be completed.
Chancellor to recommend final candidate for subcommittee of the SUNY Board of Trustees to interview.
March/April 2022
SUNY Board of Trustees to appoint recommended candidate.
Announcement of new president made in conjunction with SUNY Chancellor and SUNY New Paltz.
