With the wide array of activities that the Institute for Disaster Mental Health engages in, one of the most rewarding is the work that we do with our students. Through both the Undergraduate Minor in Disaster Studies and the Graduate Certificate in Trauma and Disaster Mental Health programs, our students have engaged in field work assisting in local, national, and international disaster recovery operations. IDMH Stories was created to highlight the amazing work that our students have engaged in and to show prospective students the type of field work they can be involved in when they join either of our programs.

The Orocovis Mural - Alyssa Dudinyak: "I worked tirelessly for five days from 7 AM each day until dark. Five days after my second arrival, I finished the mural by flashlight, an hour before I had to leave for my flight."

Service Trip to Coastal Bend - Joseph Foster: “I wanted to take photos at all of the sites, because no one else was really documenting it,” Foster said. “We were trying to help them rebuild their homes and rebuild their lives. We don’t want to leave them behind.”
