School of Business

Honor Society

The School of Business is proud to be a chapter of the International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma. Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.

The Mission of the International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of the Society, and to serve its lifelong members.

The SUNY New Paltz chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma just recently opened the Career Closet in van den Berg Hall, which provides professional attire for free to students to wear to interviews and professional events. The attire is donated by alumnae, local business people and supporters of the School of Business. The Career Closet's goal is to offer professional attire to students with the focus on sustainability, giving back and colloboration with the community.

"Last Spring I was fortunate enough to be sworn in as a member of the New Paltz chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma. Over the summer I received an email from an organization Absolute Internship that provides exclusive benefits to Beta Gamma Sigma members. They provide internship placements, housing, and weekend trips in 11 different Asian and European cities.  After completing an application and interview process, I get to intern for an executive search firm in London this July & August! While the fee to join Beta Gamma Sigma may seem unnecessary to some students, I can now say that it changed the trajectory of my life and career after only a few months of membership." -Jeremy Shannon '22
