Student Ambassador

Student Ambassador is the primary student contact between the public and SUNY New Paltz in the area of Undergraduate Admission. A Student Ambassador is charged with serving as a host to visiting prospective students and their families as well as providing guidance and information over the phone and through e-mail.

Requirements/Prerequisites: Full-time undergraduate student; On campus resident; 2.5 cumulative GPA; Clean judicial record; Completed one academic year at New Paltz by the start of their employment.  An ideal candidate should also: Genuinely love to be part of the SUNY New Paltz community; enjoy sharing their experiences with others; be articulate, have strong communication skills, and understand the meaning and importance of professionalism and outstanding customer service; have a flexible daily schedule that would allow them to fully commit to the expectations of the job.
Application Timeline: 2021/22 Application Deadline: March 3rd; Reference Deadline: March 5th; Virtual Group Interviews: March 8 - March 19; Virtual individual interviews: March 29 - April 9.

Welcome Center Greeter

The Welcome Center desk is located on the first floor of the Haggerty Administration Building where our Greeters play a key role on our campus.  Whether it is a new staff member, current student, general visitor, or a prospective student seeking information, Welcome Center Greeters are there to provide them with information in a patient, friendly, accurate, and helpful manner.

Requirements/Prerequisites: A 2.5 cumulative GPA; a high level of motivation and reliability; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse public; a flexible schedule; a warm and inviting personality; understanding of professionalism and high quality customer service skills; willingness to work during school breaks and occasional weekends
Compensation: Welcome Center Greeters receive approximately $11.80 per hour and work 7-9 hours per week during the academic year. There is also the possibility of working select weekend dates and during school breaks. 
Application Timeline: 2021/22: Applications AND one professional reference form are due no later than Friday, March 5th. Virtual group interviews will be held from March 10th to March 24th. A second round of virtual individual interviews will take place between March 29th and April 9th, with position offers made shortly after.
