Technology Assistant

The Technology Assistant is typically a student that is registered with our office that has mastered multiple forms of the technology that we use to teach other students.

Requirements/Prerequisites: Working knowledge of assistive technologies

Proctor

The Accommodated Testing Program provides proctoring services to students with disabilities. Proctors monitor students during exams outside of the classroom.

Requirements/Prerequisites: None
Compensation: Paid
Application Timeline: DRC proctors are hired on a first-come, first serve basis during the first week of the semester. Students are hired based on their availability. They can come to the DRC during the first week to fill out an application.

Mentor

All students who are inducted as a member into DAPi serve as a peer mentor for incoming freshman and transfer students with disabilities. Mentors meet with their mentees numerous times throughout the semester to provide new students with information about campus, activities and academic skills.

Requirements/Prerequisites: Must be a current member of DApi.

Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society

Because of the negative stereotyping associated with disability, students have been reluctant to identify themselves publicly. Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society presents an opportunity to change that perception by recognizing students with disabilities for their accomplishments. In addition, this honor society facilitates development of skills in leadership, advocacy and education for participating students. 

Requirements/Prerequisites: All students must present with a documented disability and work with a staff member of the Disability Resource Center. Undergraduate: You must have completed at least 24 academic credits and maintained at least a 3.10 GPA. Graduate: You must have completed at least 18 academic credits and maintained at least a 3.30 GPA.
